Downtown Fat Tuesday parade tonight marks end of Mardi Gras

(KMOV) ? A parade will be held tonight in downtown St. Louis to celebrate Fat Tuesday, the culmination of Mardi Gras festivities.

?

The parade, which will begin on Washington Ave. at 7 p.m., will feature dozens of floats and thousands of beads as people from all over the St. Louis area converge to celebrate.

Mardi Gras, French for Fat Tuesday, is the last day before Lent begins Ash Wednesday.

The Lumiere Light Up the Night Fat Tuesday Parade will start on Washington Ave. and Broadway and will make its way towards 14th St.

Several restaurants along Washington Ave. will have happy hour specials and an after party will be thrown at Stadium Sports Bar and Grill beginning at 8 p.m.
